A star is simply defined as a gaseous ball of fire which is mostly made up of Hydrogen and Helium. Nuclear fusion (combing of two lighter elements into a heavier element, for example Hydrogen +Hydrogen= Helium) a reaction which takes place inside a star releases heat, light and energy balances the own gravity of the star from shrinking into a small one, if the mass of the star increases its lifetime decreases, because nuclear fusion reaction takes place faster and there will be no enough pressure for a continuous fusion reaction. Stars always born from Nebula, which was a gaseous cloud under certain pressure certain amount of gas collapse into a star.
When a massive star have no enough amount of pressure for its nuclear fusion reaction it would explode into a supernova, in which the center region (core) of the star crushes every proton and electron into neutron and finally a neutron star was born. Neutron stars are only in the size of a city but would weigh 1.4 times than the mass of the Sun. Which means a spoon full of neutron star would weigh a billion tons.
The white which we are seeing is a composition of seven color lights which we call a Spectrum, When an atom, is exposed to energy like heat or light the electron in it would absorb energy and excited, after sometime it will release the energy in the form of radiation and light, and this light when matched to spectrum it would have some dark lines. These lines are called spectral lines, different element have different pattern of spectral lines.
ORIGIN OF GOLD:
During Big Bang (an explosion from which our universe born) only Hydrogen was produced later on the heavier elements like Helium, Iron, etc..., are produced from the core of stars.
On 17 August 2017, researchers found that a pair of neutron stars undergone collision in another galaxy named NGC 4993, which was about 130 million light years away from Earth (light year the distance traveled by the light in one year) Astronomers across the world began to study the Neutron star collision, in which the light emitted from the collision contain spectral lines of heavy elements like Gold, Platinum which means the collision turned the materials of the Neutron star into Gold, Platinum, etc..., After further research they came to a conclusion that a Neutron Star collision which was happened billions of years ago would bring the heavier elements like Gold to our Galaxy. Hence, the gold which we are using is a result of a collision.
